Families who are not directly certified from the State of Illinois (SNAP, Medicaid or Foster-eligible), will be contacted by the school district and provided information to apply for registration fee waivers. Based on the income information provided on the household information form, students’ fees may be waived (free), reduced (50%) or full-pay. Remember, families do not need to complete any paperwork in order to receive free breakfast and lunch at school. ALL students are eligible for FREE meals during the 2025-26 school year.

With this new option in place, all students enrolled in District 88 are eligible to receive a FREE healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to their household each day of this school year. Morning Preschool students will receive a full breakfast at school and afternoon Preschool students will receive a full lunch at school.
Ala carte items will be available for purchase at the middle and high schools. A student must accept a fully reimbursable meal (contains all components) in order for it to be marked free. All students are eligible to purchase milk to accompany a sack breakfast or lunch from home. A fully reimbursable meal includes a carton of milk. A student would need to order a fully reimbursable meal in order to receive free milk.

The City of Plano is planning a full day of festivities for Independence Day on Sunday, July 6th.
The day begins with a Fun Fest at Lathrop Park on North Street. Scout Troop 71 and Cub Pack 317 are hosting an activity-filled Fun Fest from 11 AM to 3 PM. The Fest features a gaga ball pit, Lego pinewood derby, Nerf shooting range and tomahawk throw, a touch-a-truck and more! Slushies from Kona Ice will also be available.
The Annual Family Walking Parade stages at Lathrop Park starting at 12:30 and kicks off at 1 PM. Families and kids are invited to decorate strollers, bicycles, wagons and themselves to join in a real parade with firetrucks, police cars and antique tractors. No reservation or sign-up is required. Youth organizations and sports teams are also invited to participate. Contact Mayor Rennels at 630/552-8275 to secure your group’s spot.
The day ends with fireworks at Plano High School. Sit in the stands at Reaper Stadium, located at 704 W. Abe Street, or bring chairs and set-up in designated areas. Gates open at 7:30 PM, with concessions offered by Plano Sports Boosters. Fireworks at dusk. This is a safe, family-friendly event. No alcohol, tobacco, firearms, coolers or tailgating allowed. Please leave personal fireworks and sparklers at home. Support your local Sports Boosters and watch awesome fireworks light up the skies over Plano!
