Summer Fun

Plano families are invited to enjoy fun, family-friendly events around Plano this summer.  Plan ahead to join in on the sun and fun!  Below please find a quick list of some of the fun things we have heard about.

 

Splash Into Summer - June 14

Meet your firemen and police officers on Friday, June 14th at the Lathrop Park Splash Pad.  From 1-2 PM there will be free summer treats and touch-a-truck fun!  Wear your swim suits and enjoy the Splash Pad! Mark your calendar for the same event on June 28th, July 12th & 26th.

Foli Park Fishing Day – June 15

The City of Plano and Quad County Hawg Hunters Muskies Inc. will offer a fun day of fishing on Saturday, June 15th from 9 AM-1 PM at Foli Park in Plano.  There will be food, drinks and bait provided and prizes for the kids.  Bring your rod and reel and catch the biggest fish!

 

Juneteenth Celebration – June 15

Check out the Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 15th.  Meet at Plano City Hall at 10 AM for the Opal Lee March.  Gates open at noon for the day-long celebration to take place at Emily G Johns School located at 430 S Mitchell Drive.  There will be food trucks, entertainment and family fun all afternoon and evening.  Don’t miss the free fireworks at dusk.

 

Midweek Music – Wednesday evenings

This summer, the City of Plano will offer “Midweek Music” on Wednesday evenings.  From 6-8 PM, stop by the park by the splash pad at James and North Street to enjoy musical entertainment.  Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the music in the green space behind the police department.  The splash pad will be open and food will be sold.  No alcohol or smoking allowed.  Come enjoy the tunes!  June 19th will feature the “Way-High Boys” and June 26th is “Redhorse.”  Watch for other dates in July and August.

 

City of Plano Family Fun Festival – July 7

Keep celebrating Independence Day at the City of Plano festivities on July 7th from 11 AM-4 PM.  There will be a kid’s parade at 1 PM by the Police Department, followed by fireworks at dusk.  Decorate your bicycle, stroller, wagon, etc. and join the City of Plano for an old fashioned, family fun walking parade.  Line up at 12:30 PM north of the Police Department and the parade starts at 1 PM.  Well-behaved pets are welcome. 

 

Fireworks – July 7

The City of Plano presents the third annual fireworks display at Plano High School on Friday, July 7th.  Sit in the stands at Reaper Stadium or bring chairs and set-up in designated areas.  Gates open at 7:30 PM, with concessions offered by Plano Sports Boosters.  Fireworks at dusk.  This is a safe, family-friendly event.  No alcohol, tobacco, firearms, coolers or tailgating allowed.  Please leave personal fireworks and sparklers at home.  Support your local Sports Boosters and watch awesome fireworks light up the skies over Plano!

 

Back to School Color Run – August 3

Sign up for the 4th Annual Back to School Color Run on Saturday, August 3rd. Click here for a copy of the flier with a QR code to register. Use coupon code PACC5 for a $5 per registration discount by June 30th.  Register by July 20th to guarantee a tee-shirt. Registration will begin at 8 AM on Saturday, August 3rd and the run will start at 8:30 AM. There will also be free school supplies & backpacks, a foam pit and bounce house from 9-11 AM. Proceeds help fund Chamber scholarships.
