We are now accepting applications for students who would like to represent Plano Middle School on our 2020 Student Council! If you are interested in learning leadership skills and promoting school spirit, then this is the club for you! Student Council will be meeting every other Tuesday at 3 PM on Zoom for this semester. The google form to sign up is at the bottom of the flyer. Applications are due Wednesday, October 7th.

PLANO SCHOOLS OFFER FREE MEALS FOR ALL CHILDREN IN PLANO The USDA has approved waivers to allow school districts to serve FREE meals to all children in the community 18 years of age and under. This is like the program that was offered in the spring and summer to all families.  This special deal not only applies to students enrolled in school, but ALL children in Plano. You might ask, how do we take advantage of this opportunity?  It’s easy!  Parents and guardians are eligible to pick up bagged meals at all school buildings during the following days and times: • Mondays - 8:30-9:30 AM, 11:30-12:30 PM or 5-6 PM • Thursdays - 8:30-9:30 AM, 11:30-12:30 PM or 5-6 PM There are no income eligibility requirements, no paperwork to complete and our drive-thru, curbside service is safe and efficient. On Mondays, each child will receive 3 FREE breakfasts and 3 lunches and on Thursday, each child will receive 4 FREE breakfasts and 4 lunches.  What a great way to help subsidize your food budget and feed your student’s the meals they love from the school menu. D88 Water Bottle Guidelines All schools in the Plano School District have bottle fillers, because water fountains had to be shut down due to COVID-19. Plano Schools will allow students to have water bottles in the classrooms with the following considerations: • The container must be clear and contain water only. No juice, soda, addables, or energy drinks. If there is a question regarding the type of liquid in the bottles, staff may ask students to dump out the contents and refill with water from the filler. • The container must have a closeable lid of some sort; this will be a screw-on lid or a push top. • Students must wear a mask while in the classroom, but may remove it briefly to drink water from their bottle and then replace the mask. • Bottles are not to be in close proximity to any technology (computers, document cameras, or projectors). • Water bottles are not to be played with on school grounds. This includes throwing the bottle, flipping the bottle, or pouring the contents of the bottle onto another student, teacher or the floor. Any failure to follow this policy may result in the student losing the privilege of having water in the classrooms. Join Us for Meal Mondays! PK-6 students who are in-person learners 2 days per week will be served breakfast and lunch in their classroom if they order it. Students are welcome to bring breakfast and lunches from home to eat with students who are receiving meals from the school. For the remote portion of their week (Monday and either TU/TH or W/F) these students are encouraged to pick up 3 days worth of meals on Mondays between the hours of 8:30-9:30 AM or 11:30-12:30 PM. Remember, if you are free, you will NOT be charged for these meals. If you are reduced, meals will cost $0.70 per day or $2.10 for the 3 day bags. Virtual Academy, Middle and High School students will not be served breakfast or lunch in the building. These students are encouraged to pick up 5 days of meals (breakfast & lunch) every Monday from their building between the hours of 8:30-9:30 AM or 11:30 AM-12:30 PM. Again, there will be no charge for free students and $3.50 total for the week for reduced students. Full pay students are welcome to pick up meals, but will be charged full price. Please note: All five school buildings will make pick-ups available on Monday from 8:30-9:30 AM and 11:30 AM-12:30 PM, so families can pick up meals for all of their students at one location. If you just have one student, please try to pick up at your school building, if possible.
