We are on week 3 of Black History Month and we hope you have enjoyed sharing the stories and songs with your children the last two weeks! This week's slide is focused on the civil rights movement and some of the Black figures that were prevalent at the time and whose influence continues to effect change to this day. One of these people, the late Congressman John Lewis fought for fair voting rights for every American (which is still ongoing) with the For the People Act (HR. 1). It is important for our children to understand that these events did not happen that long ago and the fight for justice and equality for all still continues to this day.
