A winter weather message with winter background

Dear Plano CUSD 88 Families and Staff,

As we look ahead to tomorrow, Monday, January 26th, we want to share that schools will be in session as scheduled. When making decisions related to school operations during winter weather, we consider many factors, including but not limited to:

  • Forecasted and actual temperatures, wind chill, and overall weather conditions

  • Student safety during arrival and dismissal

  • Road conditions, transportation safety, and bus operation

  • The ability to safely operate school buildings

  • Information and coordination with neighboring school districts

We ask that families plan accordingly and ensure students are dressed appropriately for winter weather, including warm coats, hats, gloves, and other cold-weather gear to keep them safe and comfortable during arrival, dismissal, and any time spent outdoors.

We also recognize that families know their children best, and we respect that parents and guardians always retain the right to make the best decision for their child(ren) and family.

Please know that we continue to closely monitor weather conditions.  Should conditions change, we will communicate promptly with families. As always, student safety and well-being remain our top priority, and we appreciate your continued partnership and flexibility as we navigate winter weather together.

Warm regards,

District Administration
