K-12 Standards and Curriculum
The curriculum in Plano CUSD 88 is continually evaluated to ensure it is dynamic and responsive. Various curriculum committees, consisting of teachers and administrators, research best practice instructional approaches and recommend materials that allow for responsive teaching to meet the needs of diverse learners.
The basic curriculum is aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards (incorporating the Common Core Standards; the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies State Standards; and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)).
Essential Standards
At each grade level, our educators have identified the Essential Standards—the key skills and concepts every student must master to be prepared for the next grade and set up for long-term success. If a student experiences difficulty with any of these standards, our dedicated teachers and interventionists provide targeted support to ensure they have the tools and confidence to succeed.
