Dear Centennial Elementary School Families and Community,

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Principal of Centennial Elementary School! My name is Dr. Leslie Kressin, and I am honored to join this wonderful community. Having already served as the Assistant Principal at Emily G. Johns for the past two years, I have experienced firsthand the dedication and passion that defines our district. It is with great enthusiasm that I step into this new role, committed to providing an incredible and empowering learning experience for our students.

My journey in education has been diverse and fulfilling. Before my role as Assistant Principal of Emily G. Johns Intermediate School, I held various positions within Yorkville 115, including K-8 Teaching & Learning Coordinator, Strategic Plan Teacher on Special Assignment, and third-grade teacher. In 2019, I was humbled to be named Yorkville’s Teacher of the Year and Employee of the Year. This recognition highlighted the innovation I strive to bring into the classroom, the ways in which I inspire my colleagues, and the passion for education that I foster in my students. One of my proudest moments was guiding my students as they presented their Tech Task Force consulting company to state representatives at the Illinois Digital Educators Alliance TECH 2019 Student Showcase in Springfield.

I earned my Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and furthered my education at Aurora University, where I completed three advanced degrees: a Master of Arts in Teaching, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate of Education in Leadership in Curriculum & Instruction.

Outside of my professional life, I reside in Sandwich, Illinois, where I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, visiting my parents in Wisconsin, and cheering on my three children at their various sporting events (cross country, football, basketball, wrestling, baseball and track & field!).

As I reflect on my career and look ahead to my new position, I am excited about the opportunity to build upon the strong foundation already in place at Centennial Elementary. My mission is to champion high standards of academic achievement while nurturing the social and emotional growth of our students. I am committed to collaborating with our talented teachers, supportive parents, and the broader community to create a dynamic and empowering educational experience for all.

¡Estoy encantada presentarme como el nueva directora de la Escuela Primaria Centennial! Mi nombre es la Dra. Leslie Kressin y es un honor para mí unirme a esta maravillosa comunidad. He trabajado como subdirectora de Emily G. Johns durante los últimos dos años, he experimentado de primera mano la dedicación y la pasión que definen a nuestro distrito. Es con gran entusiasmo que asumo este nueva posición, estoy comprometida a brindar una experiencia de aprendizaje increíble y empoderadora para nuestros estudiantes.

Mi trayectoria en la educación ha sido diversa y satisfactoria. Antes de desempeñarme como subdirectora de la Escuela Intermedia Emily G. Johns, ocupé varios puestos dentro del Distrito 115 de Yorkville, incluyendo el de Coordinadora de Enseñanza y Aprendizaje K-8, Maestra de Plan Estratégico en Asignaciones Especiales y maestra de tercer grado. En 2019, tuve el honor de ser nombrada Maestra del Año y Empleada del Año de Yorkville. Este reconocimiento destaca la innovación que me he esfuerzo por llevar al aula, las formas en que inspiro a mis colegas y la pasión por la educación que fomento en mis alumnos. Uno de mis momentos de mayor orgullo fue el guiar a mis estudiantes mientras presentaban su empresa de consultoría Tech Task Force a los representantes estatales en la Exhibición Estudiantil TECH 2019 de Illinois Digital Educators Alliance en Springfield.

Obtuve mi Licenciatura en Ciencias de la Universidad de Wisconsin-Whitewater y continué mi educación en la Universidad de Aurora, donde completé tres títulos avanzados: una Maestría en Enseñanza, una Maestría en Liderazgo Educativo y un Doctorado en Educación en Liderazgo en Currículo e Instrucción.

Fuera de mi vida profesional, resido en Sandwich, Illinois, donde disfruto pasar tiempo al aire libre con mi familia, visitar a mis padres en Wisconsin y animar a mis tres hijos en sus diversos eventos deportivos (cross country, fútbol, ​​baloncesto, lucha libre, béisbol y atletismo!).

Mientras reflexiono sobre mi carrera y miro hacia mi nuevo puesto, estoy entusiasmada con la oportunidad de construir sobre la base sólida que ya existe en la escuela primaria Centennial. Mi misión es defender altos estándares de rendimiento académico y al mismo tiempo fomentar el crecimiento social y emocional de nuestros estudiantes.
