Applied Technology Field Trip

October 23, 2018

On October 3rd, Plano’s High School Applied Technology students got a chance to visit with two manufacturing companies in the suburban area. First they visited Wise Plastics in St. Charles. Wise Plastics is a full service injection molder and manufacturer of high precision plastic injection molds, custom molded plastic components and complex assemblies. They got a chance to tour part of the facility, see products being produced, and even got a chance to speak with Designers, Human Resources, and Engineers.

After that they went to one of many International Paper locations in Aurora. International paper is one of the world’s leading producers of fiber-based packaging, pulp and paper. Here they got a chance to meet and ask questions with Process improvement Managers and Regional Human Resource Directors, see boxes being created, and get a tour of their warehouse. Both experiences were more than the students could ask for and they appreciated the opportunity to get a real word example of manufacturing companies at work.
