The following is a list of all the 2019 Senior Awards Night winners from May 14 at PHS. Congratulations to the graduating class of 2019 who have collectively been offered more than 3.2 Million Dollars toward post-secondary opportunities! Great Job!

This scholarship is given on behalf of the Harry Lee Owen Family, former 1912 graduate of Plano High School. Harry went on to graduate from University of Illinois with a degree in architecture. Due to the struggles he experienced while attending college, he set up this scholarship to make it easier for future Plano High School graduates to attend college. This scholarship is given in memory of his family.

 

Kilts Foundation:  Alverda and Edward Kilts were life long Kendall County residents. The Kilts Foundation was established following Alverda’s death in 1988 to further the education of young men and women.

College Board Pledge 4 or More Initiative

The senior class was challenged by PHS Student Services to participate in the College Board’s Pledge 4 or More Initiative.  This is a national movement to encourage all students to apply to at least four colleges. This year 48 students met this challenge. They were recognized by the Fox Valley YMCA and rewarded with a free membership through the summer months.

Illinois State Scholars

This prestigious award is given annually by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) which recognizes over 19,000 high school students from across the state as this year’s State Scholars.  Illinois State Scholar winners rank in the top ten percent of high school seniors from 749 high schools across the state. Selection is based on SAT, ACT and/or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores, and class rank at the end of their junior year.
