
On Wednesday, Joseph Jones became the first Plano athlete to sign to play for a Big 10 team. Having been recruited by Northwestern University, Joe becomes the third Plano athlete to be sign with a Division I school, the first in football.
He will be a defensive back/safety for the Wildcats in the fall. He is ranked No. 116 nationally at the safety position by Scout.com and 41st overall player in Illinois by ESPN.com. Joe is a four-year letterman in football and track and a three-year letterman in basketball. He is the current state champion in 110 meter hurdles. He has also earned academic all-conference honors for both football and track.
Joe is the son of Joseph Jones and Shawn-Daria and Daniel Dowd. He plans to study communications at Northwestern.
