Character Counts at P. H. Miller
Character Counts! at P.H. Miller
At P.H. Miller, we help students learn to become good citizens of the world by teaching them positive character traits. Each month throughout the year, we focus on one of the key character traits of Respect, Caring, Trustworthiness, Fairness, Responsibility, Citizenship and Sportsmanship. Your child will participate in a variety of learning activities designed to help reinforce these positive traits.
For the month of October, we will be focusing on Respect, which is defined as:
· Being good listeners
· Following the Golden Rule
· Being tolerant of differences
· Using good manners
· Being considerate of the feelings of others
· Refraining from threats, hitting or otherwise hurting anyone
· Dealing peacefully with anger, insults and disagreements
As parents, you can help teach and reinforce these positive behaviors, especially when you model them yourselves. Show your children how to play cooperatively, take turns, use kind words and say they are sorry if they hurt someone else.
There will be an assembly each month to recognize those students who do an exceptional job of modeling these traits.
