Introduction

We all live in a community and all communities have helpers to keep us safe and healthy. Are there community helpers in your community? You will work with the mayor of Fort Love to bring some community helpers to the new city.

 

 


The Task

You will learn about many different community helpers. You will then work with a partner to help the mayor of Fort Love decide on some important helpers to add to the new community. You will then draw a picture of five community helpers and the places that they work. You will also write a sentence about one of your helpers.


The Process

 

Work with an adult helper to visit several community helpers and the places they work.

Discuss the following questions with the adult helper.

 

1. What is the community helpers job?

2. Where does the helper work?

3. Why is the helper important to the community?

 

Work with an adult helper to take a community helper quiz.

Print out the Mayor's map of Fort Love.

Work with your partner to choose five community helpers that you feel would benefit Fort Love.

Draw a picture of each helper on the map and the place they work.

Choose one of your helpers and write a sentence telling about that helper's job. Write your sentence on the back of your map.

Click on one of the following helpers to print out a coloring sheet to color.

  1. doctor
  2. firefighter
  3. mail carrier
  4. police officer
  5. teacher

Partner Cooperation

Conclusion
