What does the Foundation fund?
The Foundation will fund enrichment programs and projects with the money received by fundraising projects and donations. The Board of Directors plans to focus its attention on programs and educational opportunities in the arts and sciences as well as providing mini-grants.
Generous donations in the past have:
  • Provided math and language arts classroom manipulatives for children in 1st and 2nd grades

  • Provided simple machine construction sets for 3rd grade students

  • Purchased calculators for every 5th grade student (to be retained in the classroom for future use)

  • Purchase watercolor supplies for Middle School students

  • Provided horticulture materials for 7th grade students

  • Provided math and science manipulatives for 8th grade students

  • Helped sponsor the Plano High School First Annual Talent Show

  • Supplied the use of digital cameras for students in all grades

  • Purchased 11 graphing calculators for the High School Geometry and Algebra II classes

  • Provided materials needed for High School students to develop a portfolio of their computer work
  • Strengthened the comprehension skills of 2nd grade students at Centennial by purchasing 3 TV/VCR units to use audio/visual materials correlated to existing curriculum

  • Added Classroom Connect curriculum for Internet access at the Middle School

  • Provided a training meter to use with overhead projectors for the High School physical science and physics classes

  • Added external speakers for multimedia presentations at the Middle School

  • Purchased the supplies necessary to enter the K'Nex Bridges Across America Building Competition for 5th grade students at Emily G. Johns

  • Provided over $18,000 in mini-grants to Plano teachers for projects unable to be funded by the district budget

  • Purchased a life-size skeleton for the High School anatomy and physiology classes

  • Sponsored book lovers’ luncheons at the Middle School

  • Purchased twelve 30-minute videos on the lives of famous explorers, historical figures and inventors for students at Centennial School

  • Introduced 4th and 5th grade students to drawing, pottery, painting, basic printmaking and sculpture through a Saturday Artists Program

  • Provided a weekly music appreciation class for kindergarten students

  • Provided a math manipulatives program for St. Mary's students in grades K-3

  • Helped fund the new Middle School computer lab

  • Sponsored a bilingual storyteller who performed for the students and the community

  • Donated books to the Plano Library

  • Worked in conjunction with Sci-Tech to sponsor traveling science projects

  • Funded Internet connections for the Middle and High Schools

  • Offered laser art and holography workshops

  • Sponsored an alumni recognition program honoring past graduates

  • Helped support the Plano Community Coalition for Wellness
