Current Students
In an effort to make more informed decisions about classroom sizes and help improve student achievement, we are instituting a new registration process for the 2011-12 school year. Registration packets have been sent home with all current students. We would like all families to register their students by Friday, May 13, 2011. Just complete all of the forms in the packet and return them to your student's school.
There will be NO registration fees collected at this time, but we would like all families to make sure any past due fees are paid before the end of the year. If you owe any past due school fees, a "past due invoice" was included with your registration packet.
So you may plan ahead, please understand that invoices will be sent after the beginning of the school year. Student fees will not increase from last year and will be as follows:
Kindergarten-6th Grade $120.00
Grades 7-8 $160.00
Grades 9-12 $200.00
The following items were enclosed with the registration packet and you may print extra copies if needed (see above):
- Registration Check List
- Student Information Form
- Authorization for Electronic Network Access
- Student Health History Form
- Home Language Survey (only new students will need to complete this form)
- Ethnicity Form (only new students will need to complete this form)
- Any other grade/building specific forms
There may be additional fees for middle and high school students. If applicable, high school fees could include driver education and band. Middle school band fees will be collected the first week of school. Any middle or high school sports fees will be collected as the student begins the season.
Online payments will be accepted for registration. Visit the district website at www.plano88.org and click "Online payments" in the upper left hand corner of the page.
It is imperative that families return the registration packet to their student's school by May 13, so they will be kept in the computer system at their respective school. If students do not register before the 2010-11 school year ends, they may be required to stand in line on the first day of school and wait to register before they will be allowed to attend class.
New Students
New students may receive a new student packet of information and forms by contacting their student's school or the Administration Office.
Parents/guardians must bring the following items with them to register their new student(s):
- Picture identification verifying identity of parent/legal guardian
- Certified or registered birth certificate for the student
- Illinois State Board of Education “Good Standing Form” (ISBE Form 33-78). This form can be obtained from the school the new student is leaving.
- IHSA Residency Eligibility Form (high school students only).
Other forms may be required at registration (such as proof of immunization and physical examination form) and high school students will need to speak with guidance counselors about their schedule. Bilingual assistance will be available.
Parents/guardians of new students will also need to provide proof of residency in the Plano School District. Forms that would satisfy this requirement may include mortgage papers, tax bills, signed lease, etc.
Parents/guardians will also need to provide two documents from the following list that show a Plano address:
- Driver’s license
- Vehicle registration
- Voter registration
- Bill or invoice from utility or credit card
- Insurance policy
- Current library card
- Mail received at new residence
- And others.

School Supply Lists
School supply lists for students in Kindergarten through grade 8 are available on this web page and in local stores, including The Office Works and WalMart . CLICK HERE for a copy of the school supply lists. The Office Works is offering a 3% rebate to be returned to Plano Schools for all purchases made at their store through September 30 (excluding copies or UPS shipments.) Bring in the redemption form that was in your registration packet or ask for one at the store.
PE Uniforms
Middle and high school students may purchase PE uniforms at the schools. The students must have uniforms with them on the first day of school.
Physical, Dental & Vision Exams & Immunizations
There are some IMPORTANT changes in these requirementsstudents entering kindergarten, sixth and ninth grades must have a current physical exam, as well as up-to-date immunizations BY THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.
Students in kindergarten, grades two and six must have a current dental examination. Students in kindergarten must show proof of a vision exam. DENTAL AND VISION REQUIREMENTS MUST BE COMPLETED BY OCTOBER 14, 2011 OR THE STUDENT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RETURN TO SCHOOL ON OCTOBER 17, 2011.
There are different requirements for students transferring from other schools in or out of State. Please check with the District Nurse to confirm that you have met all requirements. Various forms, and more health-related information, are available on the Health Services tab of this website.
