Pre-Kindergarten Family Library Night
Family Fun at The Library
The first Family Library Night took place on Thursday, November 6 at the Plano Community Library for the Developmental Preschool Program from Centennial School. Preschoolers and their families participated in a night full of activities to get everyone excited about reading. Deanna Howard, Director of the Plano Community Library, led the group of approximately 90 in singing songs before reading a story. Following the large group activity, families socialized while enjoying snacks and children worked on making their own books in the craft room. Everyone was able to go on a tour of the library where preschoolers hunted for hidden items along the way. The group toured the children’s section on the first floor and adult services on the second. In addition, the Adult Literacy Program, which offers free classes for adults to learn to improve English proficiency was highlighted. Thirty-two library cards were issued to children and parents. The event encouraged parents and young children to have an appreciation for literacy and books and to make reading a fun experience for all.
