Board Vacancy

Board of Education members recently bid farewell to retiring Board member Scott Flynn, after 7 years of dedicated service to the community and young people of the Plano School District. Mr. Flynn was elected in April 2001 and re-elected in 2005.

Mr. Flynn, owner of 3 Subway sandwich shops, is retiring to spend more time with his new venture, Outdoor Connections, a firm specializing in customized hunting and fishing trips around the globe.

The Board of Education of Plano Community Unit School District No. 88 is accepting letters of interest from community members who may be interested in filling Mr. Flynn's unexpired two-year term on the Board.  If chosen, the candidate would serve until the School Board election in April 2009.

Letters of interest should be mailed or delivered by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008 to the Plano Community Unit School District No. 88 Administration Office located at 800 S. Hale Street in Plano (next to the Plano Middle School.)

To be eligible to serve, a school board member must be, by the date of appointment, a citizen of the United States; at least 18 years old; a resident of the State of Illinois and the school district for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment; and a registered voter.
